I can’t believe that Parker has been a part of our lives for a month already! Time does fly, but we are soaking in every possible moment we can. We snuggle as much as possible which if it was up to P, would be 24/7.
Thanks to Pinterest, I had a bunch of fun pictures of P I wanted to take each month to document how much he grows! He was so good for the photo shoot and we had a blast taking pictures of him.
|I made a tie for him for each month and will add them to the chalk board each month.|
On June 29th a really
amazing crazy thunderstorm came through Burke. It unfortunately knocked power out for thousands of homes for days. We didn’t loose power so we were able to enjoy the storm without any issues. I was very grateful for this because P was so “new”. He seemed to really like the thunder and loved looking at the lightning.
We all decided to relax one night after dinner and just watch a movie downstairs. We decided to start watching some of the Disney movies we had and Beauty and the Beast was the crowd winner.
Sarah, Rob and I gave P his first bath together. We filled the tub and brought it into the guest room so we could all sit on the bed. I got all the materials together, Rob read up in our book on what to do and what not to do and Aunt Sarah held P (surprise, surprise). It was overall a success and Grandpa and Bam even got to Skype in to watch! P really does like getting a bath, especially getting his hair washed.
First road trip
We decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Shippensburg to visit Jen, Jeff and C. They wanted to come visit us but none of the following weekends were going to work. It was a short trip but P did great and it was so nice to see them! On the way home we stopped at the outlets and picked up a few cute outfits
Grandpa & Bam came down the Friday when my water broke and stayed for the first week and a half to help out. They were AMAZING and helped us out so much. When we got home our bed was made, laundry was done and the fridge was full. My Mom helped me adapt to breast feeding and being a new Mommy. Dad was great at making meals (as usual) and helping out with P. I am fairly certain he was the first one P peed on!!! :o) Everyone took opportunities to sleep when Parker slept 😉
Aunt Sarah was able to come down July 3rd after work. She pulled up, jumped out of the car, ran up the steps and had P in her arms in about 30 seconds. Dad and Rob had to unload the car! Sarah stayed for a few days and was such a good help when Mom and Dad left. She had a lot of fun snuggling with P and the beautiful blanket she made him. We took a short shopping trip and had lunch at IHOP. It was so nice to have her around and watch her cuddle with her nephew.
Amye & Greg came over and made us dinner on July 14th. They brought him The Giving Tree which is great because P doesn’t have that book. They updated us on all of their wedding plans and Rob showed them a bunch of pictures of his deployment since they had spent some time not too far away from there while in graduate school.
Karsten & Megan stopped by on July 28th and we ordered pizza and hung out. Megan knitted the turtle outfit on Pinterest for P. She did such a great job and I can’t wait to take pictures of him dressed up.
Courtney & Megan came over for dinner during the week after work. They stopped to pick up Chipotle which was very yummy! She updated me on all of the happenings at CCAS.
I think the best place to start is with some lyrics to a song that has really hit home this month. It’s called “Let Them Be Little” by Billy Dean.
There were definitely points during my pregnancy that I wanted to rush through and I started doing this with P and decided it needs to stop! I don’t want to rush with P. I want to enjoy every little moment with him because they will not last long. I have always been a busy person with a long to-do list and ambition to get it all done. My level of accomplishment was determined by the number of items I could cross off my to-do list in a day. This has been one of the hardest things I have had to adjust since becoming a Mother. While I still have that LONG to-do list, I gauge my accomplishment based on taking a shower, eating all meals, feeding P and perhaps 1-2 actual to-do list items. It has taken awhile to get use to this but I am doing pretty well.
Adapting to a baby has been one of the scariest but most rewarding experiences of my life. Of course, this is only the beginning but you have to start somewhere. The day my sister left I turned to Rob and said, “what now”? I have always wanted children and have been anxiously waiting the last few years for it to be the right time. With that being said, no amount of preparation has actually prepared me as much as I thought it would. I have learned a lot over the last few weeks and now that things have settled down a little and we are staring to get into a routine, I am starting to get into the swing of things at home and my SAHM duties.
Even though he has only been in our lives for a month, I couldn’t imagine mine without him! He brings joy to my heart and has been an amazing addition to our family!
