Making This Home Ours: Peanut’s Nursery

When we announced that we were not finding out the gender of our little Peanut, one of the biggest questions people asked me was, “how can I decorate the nursery?”  This was actually really easy to do! We found the bedding first and used that as inspiration for the rest of the room. We loved the color’s, shapes and turtles.

We decided to go with a bold and bright green for the walls!

My Cricut really came in handy with some of the wall art I wanted to include in the room. Rob and I found two quotes we really liked. I say this to P every night before he goes to sleep. One day, we will say it together <3
Of course we had to include a quote from Dr. Seuss.

Pinterest has a ton of cute nurseries with letters on the wall. I decided to use my Cricut and make something a little more personalized and on a smaller scale. This is a 24×24 canvas. It was a lot of fun to go through my cartridges and figure out what I wanted to use where. I think the purple elephant is my favorite 🙂

I had found this plane in Lancaster before we had decided to be Team Green and Rob still wanted to incorporate it into the room so we decided to make parachuting turtles! He painted the plane after his favorite one as a child.

The mobile was a Pinterest inspired piece, found here. Looking back, it was a pain in the *** ambitious. I had to make a few alterations to make the final product work. I wrapped yarn around Styrofoam balls and three different sized wreaths. I was having difficulty tying the rings together so they would be level. I went through my craft supply and found some remaining wooden napkin rings from our wedding. I decided to wrap those in yarn and tie them with fishing wire between each ring. It worked out perfect! After the three wreaths were attached, I hung the Styrofoam balls with the same fishing line.

I had originally wanted to use the vinyl option on my Cricut to make my own quote for the wall but just ran out of time and really loved this site. Even though this was on the wall before P was born, it is exactly what happened <3

My Mom took this fabric we found at JoAnn’s

and turned them into these

Runner for the dresser

Turtles Velcroed to the crib

Pillow case

Pinterest inspired turtle

Boppy covers

I love it all! I wish the plane was DIY–Noah’s side of the nursery is airplanes; I was hoping I could commission one from you!

Looks great! I was lazy this time around and let little one have her big sister’s nursery. I’ve been looking to Pinterest for inspiration for Big Sis’ big girl room. I love the parachuting turtles!

Also, how awesome that you can make your own Boppy covers!? So jealous!
