Tipful Thursday ~ Teething Munchkins

Today I am seeking tips more than just offering them! To my surprise, at three months, my little Peanut has started the teething process. I thought it was too early but after consulting with a few Mommas, I learned that it isn’t although it could still be a few months before we see any peek through.

I am so unprepared for this, I thought I had more time!!! I have started researching everything I can find on teething and realized the first step was getting P some things to play with that are safe and effective.

We already have Sophie, which I love, and he really seems to enjoy chewing on her legs and face. I have heard nothing but amazing things about Sophie and can already see how much P likes play with her and chew on her legs.

These were two of the teething toys that I received at our shower. I figured we would try both and see what he thinks. I did notice that the Sassy one is dishwasher safe but the Bright Starts is not. I was thinking I would keep a list in the kitchen of how each of these should be cleaned to keep track.

While at Babies R Us yesterday, we also picked one of these up. They have multiple teethers for the different teething stages and each one serves multiple purposes. P hasn’t quit gotten the hang of holding things continuously so I liked that this resembled a pacifier. I also liked how the teething part contours the mouth so it can reach multiple areas.

I can’t wait to update you all on how these work for P over the next few months!

Seasoned Mommas, what have you found to work the best with your teething little ones? How do you keep them clean? Any tips out there for new Mommas?

  1. Sophie is great, I need to look for more teethers for my son as he’s been hand sucking like crazy!! Not just a finger or two. His WHOLE hand! Let us know if you get anymore good teethers that your babe likes!!

  2. My eldest daughter loved Sophie, so much so that all her spots rubbed off! She liked the sassy teether ok, but the thing she liked the most when she was a little bit older was a clean washcloth. I would wet one corner and stick it in the freezer, then let her chew away!

  3. I love the Sophie and the teething keys! Aliceana hasn’t really started chewing her Sophie, but she likes hanging on to it. The teething keys are awesome because I take them apart and only use one at a time. She’s only 2 months and the teething process is really bothering her already, poor thing! I hate that our little ones have started early, because from what I hear, it’s a long long journey!

  4. There is a smaller version of Sophie that my son loved when he just started teething at three months. It was easier for him to hold. Not that he is bigger he likes the full size Sophie too. He isn’t big on the cold gel teething toys but he loves chewing on a cold wash cloth!

  5. We never got into Sophie. I just couldn’t bring myself to spend that much money one a teething toy. Charlie loved cold, wet wash cloths and his hands for the most part, which were both free. lol He also nommed on his Wubbanub when he was done with it as a pacifier. He teethed super early and super fast too, so I feel ya. Its heart breaking when they’re upset!

  6. Honestly with Steven that young if we hadn’t been paying attention he would have had all his teeth and we would not have known! The only thing he did was drool… He didn’t fuss or anything else… I do remember he use to like to chew on his pacifiers and when he got older we used Hylands Teething tablets which are all natural and his pediatrician preferred over orajel or anything of that nature… He had his first tooth a little before he was 5 months old too… He has always been a good natured little man! I hope you have the same luck with P!
