Going Green With Your Spring Cleaning {AND GIVEAWAY}

I absolutely LOVE spring time. The warm weather, fresh air and the opportunity to clean my house from top to bottom without looking like a complete weirdo. What more could a girl ask for?

I have been so anxious to announce this little mini series. One of my big goals this year was to start making changes towards living a greener life. I didn’t anticipate any drastic changes, just a few here and there. So far, it has been easier that I thought. I am by no means an expert but wanted to share what I have learned so far. Over the next two weeks I will show you 11 different ways my home is a little greener, my family a little healthier and I a little happier!

But that’s not all!!!!

I also decided I wanted to do a little something for all of my wonderful readers. So at the end of this mini series, I will be giving away a few of my favorite products that have helped me live a more organized and green life! Yay for free stuff that ALSO helps the environment!

    I do a lot of green alternatives already from recycling, homemade cleaners, and gardening

    We are partially cloth diapering, using mostly all natural products for cleaning… like the honest company products… We are planning on starting a small garden at my MiL’s house =)

    In the past few months I have been slowly going green. Actually since January. I did it because it all started when I was feeling sick while cleaning and I clean alot and thats never happened to me before. It was almost like an allergic reaction. I couldn’t breathe my throat was closing up and I was really dizzy and could barely walk. I did some research and found some really scary stuff about chemicals and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. That very day we (my fiancé, I wouldn’t go near them!) put all the cleaning supplies in a box and put them out on our porch till we figured out a better solution. In the next few DAYS we both started noticing significant improvements to our health and that was just simply because the toxins were outside. That is when I went green and havn’t looked back since. Since then, other habits followed, I use all natural homemade cleaning supplies, When I shop I always look for “green” or “natural” products, my favorites so far being mrs myers, method, and ecos. And in the past few shopping trips I’ve even started buying organic food (i’d like my 4 and 5 year old boys to stay unaffected by all those hormones for AS LONG AS POSSIBLE! lol). I’m constantly looking for ways to be greener, and honestly i’m not at all passionate about the rights of animals and i’m not a “treehugger” as some would say. When something works, it works… no ifs ands or buts about it. All the improvements to the earth as a whole and other rewards of going green are just happy consequences! or at least thats how it started, but now….. 🙂 It started with my health and it spreading.. I’m ADDICTED to green living!
