He now leans forward when he wants to be picked up.
He will say, “uh oh” when he shuts the door or something falls to the ground.
He takes the foam pieces in his tub and puts them on his head like I do him.
He tries to blow kisses back and will put his hand to his cheek after I blow one to him.
I always sing, “gotta shake the milk, gotta shake the milk, gotta shake the milk to make a milk shake” because it keeps him occupied when I am shaking the formula up. Now, when he drink milk from a sippy, he shakes it first.
Around the end of May, he started learning how to roll the ball back and forth with me. He understands that it has to go back and forth, he just has a little trouble getting the ball all the way to me 🙂
He can click his tongue and tries to whistle.
He learned how to drink out of a straw.
He can now motion consistently when he wants more, when he is all done eating and when we wants his sippy cup. We tried to teach him the “official” signing motions but he mostly just made up his own.
He can wave bye bye and hello (two separate waves) but sometimes you have to be patient to see it because he waits till you actually leave 🙂
He is now crawling like a champ. He loves going from room to room and always tries to shut the door. He will also crawl to you if you say, “come here Parker”. He is getting really good, and quick, with pulling himself up and climbing.
He started learning to reach for things in his crib. Putting it in the center of the room was my temporary solution. You can see how well that worked out…
Which led to a lot of…

We had what I would consider to be the perfect Memorial Day weekend. It was filled with running errands, getting house work done, spending time as a family, cooking on Rob’s new grill and enjoying some time outside. I couldn’t help but stop and think of all the men and women who sacrificed everything to make our weekend possible.

Rob was promoted to Tech Sgt. I am so proud of him and was so honored to be a part of the ceremony. There is still so much I am learning about military life but am slowly getting the hang of things.

Rob was away at training the week before Father’s Day so I told him that was his relaxation 😉 Parker woke him up in the morning and gave him his gift. We relaxed, ran some errands and had a yummy dinner.

Parker Turned One!
Parker’s first birthday party was a success! Everyone loved all of the picture collages, decorations and food. The hot dog bar was a hit too! He did such a good job with his smash cake and had a blast with all of his friends. I can’t wait to see the pictures our photographer took!
Parker has now transitioned from four bottles a day to two and drinks organic whole milk out of a sippy cup during lunch and dinner. I couldn’t believe how easily he transitioned! He loves cold milk just like me 🙂 We are still giving him two bottles a day of the Enfamil Enfagrow formula. Mainly Rob and I just aren’t ready to give up our cuddle time with him. I will transition him when Rob leaves next month.
He is now officially eating pretty much everything we eat. We gave him peanut butter on the 15th of June just a few days shy of his first birthday. I wasn’t really worried about him being allergic but wanted to make sure we gave it to him when Rob was home and we would just be relaxing all day and could keep a close eye on him. Oh boy does he LOVE it. Especially when I put some on bananna. His favorite meal right now is avacado, strawberries and chicken nuggets with milk or a mixture of apple juice and water. He pretty much loves anything although we have to be sneaky with steamed veggies at times.
He started crawling on his hands and knees this month and loves to pull himself up. He doesn’t seem to have much balance yet to stand alone but I know that will come in time. Since he was standing a lot more, we decided it was time to get fitted for a pair shoes.
Seriously, I have a ONE YEAR OLD?!? I knew it was eventually going to happen, but I didn’t realize it would go by so quick, even though that is all people told me. I am amazed everyday how I could love this bundle of joy so much. He is such a good boy and is constantly making us laugh and stare in amazement. I heart aches thinking about Rob leaving and everything he is going to miss.
I am so proud of myself for sticking with these monthly updates. Between drawing the chalkboard, taking the photos, editing them, going through a months worth of memories to find the favorites, editing those and writing this, it takes several hours (in some cases days). I love looking back and watching him grow. I decided I will keep up with the chalkboard and updates. It will be a little more manageable but I will still be able to reflect on all of his accomplishments each month.
