Step2 Mixin’ Up Magic Kitchen
Since we spend a fair amount of time each day in the kitchen preparing meals Parker has really started to show interest in helping us. While he has the best intentions and we try to include him in as many daily tasks as possible, it isn’t always safe or convenient for him to be playing by our feet. Lately we have noticed that Parker would try to mimic things we were doing in the kitchen with whatever he could find in his play area. We took the hint and started researching play kitchens from some of our favorite companies.
There were a few things we wanted to keep in mind when we began our search. The first was safety. Since we are expecting a baby girl in a few weeks it was important to find something that didn’t contain a lot of small pieces we would have to worry about once she started crawling and getting curious. The second was finding a good quality kitchen at a reasonable price that was both sturdy and lightweight. I wanted to be able to move the kitchen when I was vacuuming or when I got in the mood to rearrange the playroom, which happens a lot. We turned to Step2 as we have several of their products and have always been impressed with their quality.
Rob let me put my feet up while he assembled the kitchen during Parker’s nap time. We were both quite impressed with how easy the directions were and quickly the assembly went. From start to finish it took about 30 minutes to put together, 10 of which were me placing every sticker on with careful precision.
– It’s overall construction and sturdiness.
– Use of lightweight materials so it can be moved around easily when needed.
– Contains all of the key elements you would find in real kitchen.
– Fairly compact in size (39.2 x 35.5 x 17.9).
– Ample storage for additional pieces and a place to keep everything, which this OCD mamma loves!
The Mixin’ Up Magic Kitchen includes a recycle bin, bright yellow drawer for the refrigerator, and 4 blue bins under the sink for extra storage. This kitchen also includes 36 additional pieces; 2 complete place settings (cup, coffee cup, plate, bowl, and utensils), 4 serving/cooking utensils, oven mitt, towel, salt & pepper shakers, 5 spices, pepper grinder, coffee pot, blender, popcorn maker, colander, and a pot & pan set that really help bring playtime to life.
The Mixin’ Up Magic Kitchen is certainly magical with the interactive stove top that brings the pot, pan, popcorn maker and blender to life using lights, sound, and vibration.
Parker has enjoyed cooking, setting the table, and having us eat with him. Iv’e been watching him, in awe, of how closely he pays attention to what we are doing in our own kitchen. From using spices in the food preparation to washing the dishes in the sink, he replicates it all. He is often on the phone while cooking which I can only imagine is what he sees me do. I can’t believe how grown up he looks standing at the stove putting spices into the pot and using the spoon to stir it all up. On the weekends when we are together for breakfast he will often make his Daddy a cup of coffee and use the icemaker to get me water.
The Mixin’ Up Magic Kitchen is 39.2 x 35.5 x 17.9 and weighs about 46 lbs. 5 AA batteries are required but not included.
