I always like to end the year looking back on what we have accomplished. It’s easy to say good bye to a year and forgot how far you have grown over the last 365 days. So here is a little recap of our 2014.
In January we took Parker to meet Mickey Mouse. I teamed up with Amber for babies to review their Baltic Amber teething necklaces which have been a life saver for us. Since we did a lot of traveling in January I also shared some of our favorite traveling toys. Parker officially retired from his high chair and we moved him to a Nuby Booster Seat that I had a chance to review. It has been hands down my favorite Nuby product yet!
In February, not long after we got home from Disney, Parker experienced a first that neither Rob nor I have, he broke his wrist falling down some stairs. It was a very sad mommy moment but he was a trooper. I shared What’s In Our Diaper Bag – 18 months with links to our favorite products. It took some time but I was also about to put together some of our favorite photos from Disney.
Right before we left for Disney we found out I was pregnant. It was so hard to keep a secret but we waited until March to announce that we would be welcoming baby #2 in late September. I started working on some small projects in my craft room to get organized including a DIY Paint Holder. I hosted a Spring Cleaning Challenge and shared all of the DIY recipes I use in our home. I also partnered with an iPhone App, Obaby, which is a fun way to add text and doodles to your favorite photos.
April was a little lonely as Rob was away on a short deployment and we spent our 3rd anniversary apart. I hosted a Healthy Baby Home party sponsored by Seventh Generation where a few local friends and I learned about the dangers of household chemicals.
May was an extremely busy month. Since Rob was also away for Mother’s Day Parker took me out to breakfast and even paid the bill. When Rob returned home we took a mini vacation to Ocean City with my parents. We also found out we were having a girl and was able to put together this fun gender reveal for all of our family and friends. I made some fun upgrades to my gift wrapping closet, and talked about our experience in Disney With A Toddler and shared some of our Packing List Musts.
In June Rob and I attended the Big City Moms Biggest Baby Shower. It was fun to see some familiar brands and meet a few new local ones. Our baby boy turned TWO and we celebrated with a fun nautical theme.
I made it to my Third Trimester in July and managed to attend Blogger Bash in NYC with my good friend Jen. It was also a busy month of reviews where I got to share my continued love for Lovable Labels and share my thoughts on a new local brand, oogiebear. In preparation for baby girls arrival, we moved Parker into his new room and big boy bed. I am still getting around to sharing the reveal of his room and all the neat DIY projects we did.
In August we tried to spend as much time together as a family as we could. I started a weekly series called, Motherhood Confessions, where I share random thoughts on life as a mother. I don’t write about it every week but when a thought strikes me. I decided to create a Shared Changing Station in the bathroom so that we didn’t have to have one in each of the kids rooms. I also had the pleasure of working with Step2 to review their Mixin’ Up Magic Kitchen.
When September finally hit I was getting so anxious to meet our baby girl. Our good friend Allison from Fairytale Moment took some amazing photos in Annapolis. I shared my review of the Joovy Caboose VaryLight Stand-On Tandem Stroller and some of my favorite pregnancy products. Most importantly, we welcomed our beautiful baby girl, Catherine Mary, into the world!
October was spent with family and friends enjoying lots of snuggles and getting adjusted to our new family of four. I shared Caity’s VBAC Birth Story and some breathtaking photos Allison from Fairytale Moment took in our home. Before I knew it, I was writing Caity’s First Month Update and First Month Favorites. After getting a little stir crazy in the house we decided to take the kids to the National Zoo which was their first time. I put together some of our favorite Big Brother Books and did an awesome review/giveaway for some VTech toys.
It wasn’t until November that I got around to sharing our favorite photos from Halloween but we had such a blast and the kids looked adorable. Parker enjoyed giving out candy more than receiving it. I was really itching to craft and spent a few naptimes putting together a shadow box for both Caity and Parker. I also FINALLY finished organizing our Entry Way and put together a list of all the items I found to keep it that way. We hosted Thanksgiving for a few local friends and had fun relaxing and watching the kids play. Not to mention all the yummy food we got to eat. One of Rob’s classmates made bacon wrapped cinnamon rolls which were AMAZING!
December was filled with decorating, projects, shopping and family. We took Caity to the ER for the first time when I noticed a hair wrapped around her toe. I later learned it is called Toe Turniquet Syndrome and is more common than you would think. We did a mini photo shoot on our king size bed for the Christmas Card but I was so late to the game they didn’t go out in the mail until Christmas Eve. Better late than never I guess! We went to visit close friends before heading to NJ for a nice long Christmas vacation. It was so nice to spend time relaxing by the fire and a nice reset for the 2015 year. During the month I shared some of my favorite Holiday Decorating Items, Gift Ideas for Toddlers, and a fun last minute stocking stuffer. After making a nice profit in November from our local consignment sale, I also decided to put a few Tips and Tricks together for those thinking about consigning.
It has been quite a year! We started off 2014 with Rob just home from deployment and our 18 month old taking his first steps. The year was full of surprises, adventures, and a few bumps in the road and although a lot has changed, it has all been for the better. We ended 2014 with a talkative and adventurous toddler, adorable baby girl and many possibilities for 2015.
