International Women’s Day
Today is International Women’s Day. As I get older I realize more and more what women are capable of. This idea that we are the weaker sexes baffles me. I’ve seen women overcome impossible odds, carry the weight of the world on their shoulders, and on a daily basis worry about everyone around them before even caring for themselves. Today is a day to brag ladies. A day to acknowledge your accomplishments and proudest moments.
So let’s play a little game on Facebook. Share photos of a few of your favorite accomplishments. Then tag some of the women in you life that come to mind and ask them to do the same.
Here are mine:
1. Completing not only college but also graduate school when the odds were against me and so many didn’t think I could do it.
2. Welcoming my daughter into this world via a VBAC. Something that takes more that just physical determination but also mental determination to block out all the skeptics and medical professionals against you.
3. Completing the Disney Princess Glass Slipper Challenge 100 pounds overweight and with little training. Not something I would ever advise. I had plenty of opportunities to give up but I didn’t. I kept going waiting for me to be stopped. But I didn’t stop till I crossed the finish line. And that has pushed me to lose weight, train hard, and try it again next year as the best version of myself.
