The last 5 weeks have been rough to say the least… I try to keep this a fun and happy place but ya know, sometimes life just doesn’t go as planned. I ran myself pretty ragged before Christmas focusing on my business. I am so […]
This little girl is growing before my eyes…
Her favorites phrases right now are, “what dat?!?”, “hi Dad”, “Parker NO!!!”, and “ppaaaallleeeeezzzzzzzz”. She will also start counting down when she hears us doing it. She doesn’t take crap from her brother anymore and you can usually find him in a head lock if there is a disagreement. She loves taking care of her baby dolls and pushing the stroller around the house. She calls all of them dolly expect her favorite, which is baby. She is still a very good eater but prefers strawberries, yogurt, and gold fish. When the door bell rings she immediately says,
“pizza here!”. <– Mom fail right there… She loves getting her hair combed and brushing her teeth, although it’s mostly just sucking the water from her toothbrush.
Over the last few years I have collected quite a few outfits for Sammy and Sophia that I just adore. They mostly wear the aviation jacket and plaid skirt but every once in awhile they come back from the North Pole in a different outfit, sometimes specific to the mischief they have gotten themselves into. Here are a few of our favorites!
The robes are definitely for the marshmallow bath and the pajamas are perfect for Christmas Eve morning. The t-shirts are new this year and I am excited to start changing them out throughout the month as well.
There are so many things I love about the Christmas season. Time with family, the cold weather, decorating the tree, cookies, and watching the joy on Parker and Caity’s faces. Most of all though, I think it’s our elves Sammy and Sophia. Planning out a month of fun things for them to be doing really keeps me in the spirit of wonder and excitement all month. Not to mention watching the kids faces every morning as they look to see what mischief they got in.
Last year I created a calendar to help facilitate Sammy and Sophia’s daily movements. It made things much easier and a lot more fun! Out of all of them these were probably my favorite.
This year I want to incorporate a little decorating and family oriented. Sammy and Sophia stick to more lighthearted mischief and role model good behavior. I also don’t focus much on them reporting back to Santa although desperate times we casually remind Parker that Sammy has an in with Santa.
This past weekend was packed with lots of activities, family time, a date night, and even a nap!
We decided to hit up a local fair on Friday evening and the kiddos had even more fun than I could have imagined. Like Mommy and Daddy the both LOVE rides. I think Caity is going to be our daredevil though. She wanted to go on everything, even a kiddie roller coaster. Unfortunately she was like half and inch too short :/ Next year little girl!
The next morning Rob took the kids to the Natural History museum to see dinosaur bones while I stayed home to catch up on some orders and go to my first hot yoga class. I got back during quite time, took a shower, and then a nap. Yep, you read that right! We didn’t mean to fall asleep and luckily I woke up about 20 minutes before the sitter was coming so we could have a date night. We ate and a place called Steak & Sushi in ByWard Market. I was in the mood for several smaller plates so we shared a few appetizers and then a nice steak. I also tried their Sangria which was out of this world.
We met up with some friends for a paint night with Jessica D Perez. I was really impressed with the artist and definitely recommend her for anyone wanting to get in touch with their creative side. She does parties starting at 5 guests and does children’s parties as well.
I got up early on Sunday to tackle my next goal, 6 miles. Took me awhile to finish but I did it and still made it back in time to shower and hop in the car. We wanted to head over to the War Museum to see the tank exhibit. Rob geeked out while the kids enjoyed a snack at a safe distance from the noise.
It may seem like we have traveled to NJ every month since our move to Canada because it’s true. I can count on less than one hand the number of months we have not traveled. Although it’s been hard, at least we have been traveling for good reasons!
This past week was filled with bachelor/bachelorette parties, a cousins wedding, playground trips, and wedding crafts.
Rob manage to snap this photo of Caity and then remembered a similar one of Parker about the same age. I love having these photos of them to compare over the years.
Although the weather was awful, sooooo hot and humid, the kiddos were outside as much as possible exploring Bam and Chief’s apple orchard. They loved climbing trees and taking long tractor rides. They also FINALLY figured out that the large piece of furniture in the dinning room with pedals was a piano. Only took 4 years for Parker ;). That is now their favorite indoor activity.
We took Sarah to Morristown to celebrate her upcoming wedding. The day was filled with relaxation, painting, delicious food, and lots of dancing. I plan to do a post just on that since we had a wonderful weekend with some great vendors. I can’t believe my sister will be a Mrs. in less than a month!
