Roller Coasters, Dinosaurs, and Tanks

This past weekend was packed with lots of activities, family time, a date night, and even a nap!

We decided to hit up a local fair on Friday evening and the kiddos had even more fun than I could have imagined. Like Mommy and Daddy the both LOVE rides. I think Caity is going to be our daredevil though. She wanted to go on everything, even a kiddie roller coaster. Unfortunately she was like half and inch too short :/ Next year little girl!

The next morning Rob took the kids to the Natural History museum to see dinosaur bones while I stayed home to catch up on some orders and go to my first hot yoga class. I got back during quite time, took a shower, and then a nap. Yep, you read that right! We didn’t mean to fall asleep and luckily I woke up about 20 minutes before the sitter was coming so we could have a date night. We ate and a place called Steak & Sushi in ByWard Market. I was in the mood for several smaller plates so we shared a few appetizers and then a nice steak. I also tried their Sangria which was out of this world.

We met up with some friends for a paint night with Jessica D Perez. I was really impressed with the artist and definitely recommend her for anyone wanting to get in touch with their creative side. She does parties starting at 5 guests and does children’s parties as well.

I got up early on Sunday to tackle my next goal, 6 miles. Took me awhile to finish but I did it and still made it back in time to shower and hop in the car. We wanted to head over to the War Museum to see the tank exhibit. Rob geeked out while the kids enjoyed a snack at a safe distance from the noise.

NJ Road Trip & Wedding Festivities

It may seem like we have traveled to NJ every month since our move to Canada because it’s true. I can count on less than one hand the number of months we have not traveled. Although it’s been hard, at least we have been traveling for good reasons!

This past week was filled with bachelor/bachelorette parties, a cousins wedding, playground trips, and wedding crafts.

Rob manage to snap this photo of Caity and then remembered a similar one of Parker about the same age. I love having these photos of them to compare over the years.

Although the weather was awful, sooooo hot and humid, the kiddos were outside as much as possible exploring Bam and Chief’s apple orchard. They loved climbing trees and taking long tractor rides. They also FINALLY figured out that the large piece of furniture in the dinning room with pedals was a piano. Only took 4 years for Parker ;). That is now their favorite indoor activity.

We took Sarah to Morristown to celebrate her upcoming wedding. The day was filled with relaxation, painting, delicious food, and lots of dancing. I plan to do a post just on that since we had a wonderful weekend with some great vendors. I can’t believe my sister will be a Mrs. in less than a month!

Our 4th Weekend

We had such a wonderful 4th weekend. One of the many nice things about living in Canada is that we get to celebrate double holidays often and Rob gets extra long weekends.

The 1st was Canada Day so we decided to try someplace new. We ended up finding this cute little down about an hour away with an Aquaratarium. There were some fish and a few otters but the best part was all of their interactive exhibits. Very child friendly.

My parents came to visit for the weekend and we decided to make a trip out to our favorite farm and eat pick some strawberries. The kiddos jumped right in and new exactly what to do. That night we have fresh strawberries and home made whipped cream! I also freezed a few pounds to make jam once we get all the materials to can.

The most exciting event during the weekend was celebrating the 4th at the Ambassadors house. He hosts an amazing event and it was a lot of fun to dress up and eat some amazing food.

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th.

Pizza Fridays

I love Friday’s, I love my family, and I love pizza. Combine those together and I am one happy momma. The weather was perfect today so we decided to hang out on the deck, make some pizza dough, and watch the kiddos play.

While I tend to prefer pizza delivery I have to say that this recipe for pizza dough mixed with sweet Italian sausage was impressive and competitive with a pizzeria pizza.

2 cups flour
1 tbsp yeast
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
2/3 cup luke warm water

Mix 1 cup of flour with all of the ingredients. Once mixed gradually add the remaining cup of flour and knead dough with your hands. Let rest for 10-15 minutes with a towel covering the bowl. Spread dough onto a greased pizza pan. Add tons of your favorite toppings.

Parker’s 46 Months Old (3 Years 10 Months)

46 Months Collage

Parker continues to amaze me with his language development. He can carry on complete sentences with us and it’s fun to watch him run around with the kids on the playground trying to talk with them as well. Sometimes he says the funniest things out of nowhere.

He really stepped up this last month with his big brother duties. We spent 2 weeks in NJ to help Bam recover from surgery and during that time I spent the weekend away watching a good friends kiddos while she ran a race. Then after we got back to Canada I flew off to see my sister graduate from JAG. Both times he really helped occupy Caity and take care of her. Anytime he sneaks food from the kitchen like bananas or a whole package of bagels >:{

He is obsessed with tractors, cars, airplanes, and helicopters. He is also getting really good at identifying cars when we are out. He will say, “look there is Uncle Nick’s car but a different color” pointing out a yellow Mustang (Uncle Nicks is gray). He can also identify Boatwagons ;), Bams Uscon, and big trucks like Big Chief.
