I am really getting into the holiday spirit! Only a few more days until Rob returns home, just in time for Christmas. That means I have been busy getting the decorations up, baking done and Christmas presents checked off.
It’s no secret I LOVE being a Joovy Mom. It gives me the opportunity to review some of their fantastic products like the Tricycoo and Zoom 360 Jogging Stroller. I love how family oriented and down to earth the company and employees are as well. They make it easy to promote not only their products but also their values as a company. Not to mention the fact that Joovy decided to put together a special treat for all of you and offer a giveaway worth $355! I bet you are excited now, right? 🙂
The winner will receive some amazing prizes that will be the perfect surprise for all the little ones on your list.
I love spending the holidays with family but for us that means hours on the road making the rounds. During the hustle and bustle of the holiday, I like to use gift cards to help keep my spending in check and my credit cards safe. In the past I have used them for restaurants, retail and even the grocery store. It wasn’t until recently that I found out gas stations also offer gift cards.
After being approach to do this review, I started doing my research. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that you can use the Sunoco gifts cards for more that just filling up your tank. They can be used to purchase convenience items like a jumbo Diet Coke for that late night trip or even in their service center.
Sunoco offers gift cards in $25, $50 and $100 denominations that make the perfect stocking stuffer for just about anyone on your list. It will be sure to put a smile on their face. The Gas Station Locator makes it really easy to find a station with your specific needs.
Now, who is ready for some free gas?!? Keep it for yourself or give it to someone on your list.

For me, preparing for a trip, party or life event starts with research and checklists. It makes the experience my enjoyable and smooth sailing. Sometimes I will search on Pinterest and Google for tips and sample checklists to get me started. The only thing better than a checklist is a book of checklists!
Jennifer Durbin, author of Tips for The Clueless Chick, has done just that. Although she calls her books, “life’s contemporary CliffNotes for the modern woman!”, even as a practiced checklist maker I found them very thorough. I was first introduced to her work while attending The Baby Ladies Baby Shower in Chicago this past July. Jennifer was gracious enough to put one of her books in our goodie bag! I was so excited when I received an opportunity to review all of her books and offer an awesome giveaway to my readers.
Pregnancy is an exciting and stressful, sometimes overwhelming experience. There are so many books available that is could make your head spin. What I love about Jennifer’s book is that she breaks everything up by trimester giving you only the information you need at that time.
The Tear it Out and Take It with You! section is great for on the go. Some of the checklists include questions for your prospective doctor, registry must-haves, things to take to the hospital and getting ready for recovery.
Being prepared while traveling with a little one is very important. We have taken trips with P over the last 17 months but it has usually been to family or friends houses. When Rob gets home from deployment, we will going to Disney and I am so excited to have this guide to help me make my checklists.
Jennifer walks you through what you will need based on your destination and length of your trip. I know eating out and on the go was the hardest to figure out in the beginning. Just when I thought I had it down, he reached another milestone and we had to start all over again 🙂 She also goes through tips on traveling without your baby, travel safety and traveling outside of the country.
Jennifer’s tips for party planning are fantastic. I love hosting guests but always find myself stressed out and over thinking too many aspects. She breaks the process down to include party planning, co-hosting, etiquette, logistics, budget and even steps on going green. At the end she offers sample party lists for a variety of parties.
One of my favorite tips is to always take pictures of all your hard work before your guests arrive. It’s a great way to remember what you did and where all of your time went during the previous weeks and months.
Overall, I love how Jennifer has found a way to provide a ton of helpful information in compact books that are easy to understand. These books make great gifts for first time or even new mom. One of my favorite perks are the tip cards she has in each book.
You can purchase these books for $9.99 each or buy all three for $24.99 in her shop or on Amazon. Jennifer also sells a few other items including a Diaper Cake Kit and Pregnancy Notes. You can check them out here.
International Baby Wearing Week: October 7th – 13th 2013
It is so fitting to be writing a review of the Catbird Baby Zephyr Pikkolo Carrier during International Baby Wearing Week. I started wearing P in a Moby Wrap when he was a few days old and still wear him as much as possible. I remember the first time I wore him and how amazing it felt. There are so many benefits of baby wearing for both baby and you. It gives them a sense of security and comfort being close to you. At the same time, you have a little more independence with two hands free. I know some moms who became pros at nursing their little one in a carrier which freed up even more time. If you are new to baby wearing, make sure to check out these safety tips from Baby Wearing International.
While attending a Blog Conference in Chicago last July, I had the privileged of meeting Beth from Catbird Baby at one of the parties. I loved how down to earth she was and that she started the company after making a few of her own carries. Catbird has added more great carriers in addition to the original, mei tai although the mission of creating functional and beautiful products has stayed the same.
I was so intrigued with the name of the company, Catbird, I just had to share in case anyone else was equally curious. There is short story called, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty written by James Thurber. In the story, they use the expression, “sitting in the catbird seat” which refers to an advantageous position. I think it is an adorable name since that is exactly how a child must feel when they are being worn.
One of the things I love about the Zephyr Pikkolo is that there are no bells and whistles. It’s nice to just have a carrier that is easy to figure out and put on. There are times when I don’t want to haul out the stroller and need to get in and out quick. Baby wearing takes practice but it helps to have a simple product to not only learn on but have for those quick needs. My sister had never used a baby carrier before and was able to figure it out and adjust it to fit her body in about 5 minutes.
The Zephyr Pikkolo is very comfortable for both momma and baby. There are 4 carrying position that can accommodate your baby from the newborn to toddler stages (8-40 lbs). The shoulder straps have memory foam to provide lots of cushion with little bulk. One of my favorite features of this carrier is you have the option to wear the straps crisscrossed in the back for extra support. Andrea from Mommy Gearest has an excellent video to show you how to crisscross the straps!
P especially loves to back wear. He will make the “giddy up horsey” motion and giggles when you wave your hair in his face 🙂 It was so much fun watching him since he is usually on my back!
Thanks to Catbird Baby, one lucky Cherry Blossom Love reader will win their very own Catbird Baby Pikkolo!
