Weight Gain: Way too much… Swelling and extra fluid are a &$*#&!
Sleep: Sitting up… Just sitting up…
Miss Anything?: Not being pregnant. I am at that point where I am ready to meet her and have my body back. There are so many things I worry about towards the end it’s hard to enjoy those last few weeks.
Movements: She was dancing like crazy yesterday which was a little out of character for her this past month. She also dropped a lot and my belly has completely changed shape.
Cravings: Sweets… I decided to make the Oatmeal Crispies for the L&D staff. Last time I went into labor the next day but wasn’t so lucky this time around. At least they taste yummy!
What I Am Looking Forward To: Baby girl arriving. I really thought this morning was it. Had consistent contractions from about 3am to 10 am. My appointment at 9 didn’t give me anything definitive and they started to fade after that. I have to admit I was a little bummed but after we came home and rested for awhile Rob, Parker and I went out to the mall. We had a blast and really lifted my spirits enjoying are family of three for at least one more day. I plan to get some remaining items accomplished this week and weekend and try to live life normally. Although I keep getting contractions I am just going to ignore them until they get painful, then I will know something is happening. Next week I have my 38 week appointment, a massage and am visiting an acupuncturist for an induction session.
Weight Gain: Between baby girls size and pretty bad swelling in the last week the pounds are starting to stack on. At this point I don’t have the energy to be too upset about it and am proud of myself to keeping it in check for pretty much 8 whole months. The good news is the water weight comes off pretty quickly, last pregnancy I lost 15 pounds in 1 day during the first week of postpartum recovery.
Sleep: She actually let me sleep on both my right and left side last night. It was AMAZING!!! I woke up in the middle of the night just to do kick counts to make sure everything was alright.
Miss Anything?: Being about the get things done. It’s so hard to have to sit down every 10 minutes because I am exhausted or my feet are in
Movements: Same as usual, loves to move around at night when I am relaxing and almost always tries to kick the iPad off my belly. I have been feeling Braxton Hick Contractions, tons of pressure and cramping quite a bit recently but nothing consistent. I did download a contractions timer just in case though 🙂
Cravings: This past weekend was full of food. My sister brought a Sour Cream Coffee Cake and made some of her yummy guac while she was here. I thoroughly enjoyed both and was sad they weren’t in the fridge this afternoon to munch on. I am really craving a Diet Coke right now as well. I was hoping to completely quite diet soda after this pregnancy and limit my soda intake all together. I usually do really well for the first 7 months but towards the end it’s all I can think about.
What I Am Looking Forward To: This past weekend was packed with friends and family. While it was a good time, I am looking forward to the low key week and weekend. I am hoping to have our bags completely packed and baby girls room done by the end of the weekend. If I can keep the swelling down in my feet I also want to make cookies for the L&D staff. I will wait till the bags are packed though… Last time my water broke with Parker less than 24 hours after I made cookies.
Sunday we took another trip to L&D for a few symptoms that the on-call midwife wanted to take a look at. All my tests came back alright but they are looking at me pretty closely for Pre-E because of my history and sudden swelling this pregnancy. Luckily, we had a ton of people at the house to look after Parker and they even cleaned up the house while we were gone.
We had our follow up U/S yesterday to check on baby girls growth. Looks like the ANA isn’t affecting this pregnancy at all and baby girl is weighing in around 7 pounds. Yikes! While I know these measurements are just an estimation, I was hoping she would be a little smaller. I had to laugh when the doctor came in though. Last time we had a fairly uptight one who pretty much said her belly was going to get stuck if I tried a VBAC. This doctor explained there is no definitive research to indicate size is an automatic issue for vaginal delivery. Then he held up his hands and said, “the stomach is a very squishy” in an Italian accent. It was like night and day between our two appointments. I almost walked away feeling like he should have been more worried. He is the expert though and our plans for an unmedicated VBAC haven’t changed.
September 2, 2014.Reading time less than 1 minute.
Last weekend Rob and I took a trip to Annapolis in the early AM for a photo shoot with the talented Allison from Fairytale Moment. The weather was cool and it was so early not many people were out yet which made the whole shoot rather enjoyable. Here are a few of my favorites. Unfortunately, I had to leave a few of my favorite ones out because they would divulge her name which we aren’t quite ready to share yet!
Weight gain: The last week has been a little crazy so I haven’t been as careful or as good I should be. As of now, I am up about 23ish pounds but still moving around really well and little swelling. Sleep: Good nights and bad nights. The last few I have woken up around 4 and gone into the nursery to sleep on the recliner. It’s nice to lay out in the bed but the recliner really helps supports me in the right areas. Plus we have the small TV and Roku set up so I can watch something when I can’t fall back asleep. Miss anything?: Being able to clean up Parker’s playroom throughout the day and evening. It’s been a disaster for days and finally took the time tonight to clean everything up. I was having crazy braxton hicks contractions before I was even done. I like things cleaned up at night and it’s really been hard to let that kind of thing go because then I don’t feel settled when I go to bed. Part of the problem is all the toys Parker has that involve multiple pieces. That however is a story for another day. Movement: She likes moving around the most when I get into bed in the evening. Iv’e been feeling really intense Braxton Hicks lately which I now know I never had with Parker. Cravings: Sugar… I think my recent change in diet is finally getting to me. Luckily it seems foods like jelly and syrup are what mess with my sugar levels so I have been able to have small amounts of icecream for my evening snack. I miss soda though… That will be my #1 request along with a bologna and cheese sandwich once baby girl arrives. What I am looking forward to: We are having a bunch of visitors throughout the weekend which is going to be a blast. Rob’s parents are bringing the lockers that his Dad has been refinishing for us for Parker’s room. My friend Jen is bringing her prefold and cover stash so baby girl can be in cloth right away. My Sister is coming so it will be fun to have a little one on one time. Some of my Mommy friends are also throwing baby girl and I a Sprinkle
Weight gain: About 20 lbs. This time last pregnancy I was up about 50 so I am pretty happy! I have really liked the GD diet and haven’t really felt deprived much. I do miss the sweets here and there but I don’t have to give up many carbs so I am still a happy girl. Although testing my sugar 4 times a day has been a little annoying it’s been interesting to see how certain foods affect me differently.
Sleep: Eh, depends on the night. For the last week I have been really uncomfortable but of course last night I slept really well. I think I will need to move to the recliner soon though. I get too sore sleeping on my right side and sitting upright in bed anymore. Plus I am getting up at least 5 times a night and that is an ordeal in itself 🙂 The uncomfortable part has started but that usually means there isn’t much longer to go!
Miss anything?: Playing around with Parker. I feel like I am on eggshells when I am around him which is exhausting. It’s hard to explain to a toddler why Mommy can’t pick him up or hold him for long periods of time. He has been trying to kiss my tummy a lot and even then I have to be careful because he does it a little hard. We also haven’t gotten out of the house much for playdates. Luckily he is still getting a lot of interaction with other kids at daycare but I know he misses his friends. It’s been tough with one car and my complete lack of energy to take him out on my own. I just keep telling myself that baby girl and Fall will be here soon and make everything a lot easier.
Movement: She gave us a scare Monday which lead to another L&D visit but looked great on the monitor and US. Seems like she dropped and is getting comfortable so I just have to be more aware of movements and start my kick counts. I love our OB/Midwife practice because they are so understanding and trusting of my gut feelings. I also like that there is a midwife at the hospital on call 24/7.
Cravings: Soda which I now can’t have at all. I take a sip of Rob’s here and there to get a little of the taste on my tongue. That will certainly be my number 1 request after baby girl arrives!
What I am looking forward to: The nursery is getting painted as we speak! I also mailed all of the material for the crib bedding and valances to the woman who is sewing everything for me. I chose bold colors and even bolder fabric but my taste hasn’t failed me yet so I am keeping my fingers crossed it’s a win. Iv’e also been making the Yo Yo’s every night in bed for a lamp shade for her room that we found at a garage sale for $1. Those have been a lot of fun to make! We have a pretty relaxing weekend so I am hoping to get a good chunk of decorating done and our hospital bags started.
