32 Weeks!

DSC_4618 v2Munchkin is the size of a squash!
32 weeks ~ 8th month ~ 3rd trimester

Weight gain: I am about 18lbs up which is actually 2 pounds lower than what I was last week. My midwife yesterday said my weight gain was “excellent” which was a little refreshing especially since my appointment was at the end of the day. My guess is my weight gain is going to slow down a bit as I am not following a low carb diet (more on that below) which is all I have been wanting to eat lately.

Sleep: Still not too bad. I have my nights where I wake up to pee and can’t go back to sleep and other nights I don’t even open my eyes and pass out again as soon as my head hits the pillow. I am usually pretty stiff when I first get up but then I can move pretty easy. If my feet swell at all during the day they go down at night as soon as I put my feet up so I have been trying to sleep with pillows under my legs as much as possible. I really think seeing the chiropractor weekly has helped with sleeping this time around.

Miss anything?: Same as usually, having enough energy to get everything done. I try so hard and can still manage to do a lot, I just get so tired so easily. It’s really hard for me to just sit down and relax. My hands always have to be busy doing something and there is always something that needs to be done.

Movement: She is a rock star in there. Moves around the most when I am still and laying down, especially when I have something laying on my stomach like the iPad. During our U/S the tech told us she was head down, very low, with one foot by her head and the other between my ribs. Now I know why I can feel here in so many places at once!

Cravings: Nothing much lately. This pregnancy has been pretty boring in the way of cravings. I am in the mood for certain things at different times but that is as far as it gets lately.

Positives (and negatives): We went in on Monday for our U/S and appointment with the perinatal specialist. Since they found out that I have positive ANA’s (anti-nuclear antibodies) in my system they wanted to make sure that baby girl was growing and the placenta was functioning properly. Luckily, everything looks good on that front. However, while she was reviewing the results of the U/S she noticed that her head is measuring around 40% and belly around 80%. Mix that with failing my 1-hr GD test and having 1 of the 4 numbers from my 3-hr

What I am looking forward to: Getting started on this diet and making the best out of the next 8 weeks to give baby girl and I every chance possible to VBAC. We are also 90% done with Parker’s room, just a few more projects to finish up. I already started on baby girls room getting all of her clothes organized. Now we just have to wait for the room to be painted and then we can start decorating. It’s nice to really be making a dent in our to-do list especially since her due date is creeping up on us!

P and C comparisonJust for fun, here is a side by side comparison of Parker and baby girl! I can’t believe how much they look alike.

Munchkin is the size of a cucumber!
Weight gain: About 17 pounds. At my 28 week appointment the midwife thought that was fine, at 30 weeks a different midwife scolded me a little. It’s amazing how the difference of opinion regarding weight gain depends on the midwife/doctor. I am going to take it easy on the sugar and carbs for now and see what happens. I am not too concerned but don’t really want a lecture twice a week for the next 2 months…

Sleep: I have mentioned this before but I love my pillow fort. I have found 8 perfect pillows that all serve their own purpose. It looks a little funny but other than waking up to pee, it works like a charm. Baby girl will only let me sleep on my back propped up and my right side.

Miss anything: My sanity? I have felt so stretched thin the last week it finally took a toll on me yesterday and I had a little melt down. I just have way to much going on this late in my pregnancy so it takes me twice as long to do things. It’s so hard to prioritize when things come up that need immediate attention. Being pregnant with a toddler is definitely MUCH harder.
Movement: Tons as usual. I really can’t tell which way she is or what I am being poked with. She loves moving around when I lay down for the night and keeps moving all night long. It’s fun to put my iPad on my belly and watch her kick it around!

Cravings: Nothing really… I still prefer carbs over sweets.

Best moment last week: Attending a blogging conference in NYC, Blogger Bash, with my good friend Jen from All Four Love. It was so much fun to have a weekend away and even though my felt did swell quite a bit, I did pretty good!

Looking forward to: Finishing up the last few things in Parker’s room. I have a few canvases to paint, his growth chart and an awesome map collage for above his bed. Once that is done, I can switch gears and start working on baby girls nursery!

28 Weeks

Munchkin is the size of a eggplant!
Weight gain: Definitely catching up from the slow start :/ About 13-15 pounds depending on the day. I can’t say I am doing anything to really keep that number down. I tend to do what my body wants during pregnancy, within reason of course. I have been staying away from all of the pregnancy no no’s like last time. Luckily we found nitrate free bacon and hotdogs which have been a saving grace for me. The hard part is I have no desire to eat anything green. The thought of eating a salad makes me want to vomit.

Sleep: Still need like 10 pillows just to get comfortable. She hates when I sleep on my left side so I have just been rotating between propped up on my back (with pillows under my legs and on each side) and on my right side (with a pillow between my legs, in front of me and behind me). Iv’e been getting up 2-3 times to pee and check on P now that he is in a big boy bed. Only 1 night of insomnia so that isn’t too bad.

Miss anything: We got on the topic of baby carriers on my online moms group and I realized how much I miss wearing P. I can’t wait to have another squishy baby for our Moby and to be able to back wear Parker again!

I also wish I had more energy to take him outside and to the park etc… Since we only have 1 car I can’t really do that anyway but when Rob gets home I usually never have enough energy left. Luckily he goes to daycare for a few hours during the week and gets lots of interaction with other kids and adults.

Movement: If this little girl is as feisty on the outside as she is on the inside we are in so much trouble. She loves to move around, stretch and kick. The other night Rob asked if her movements ever woke me up. Silly me responded, “no”… That night she kept waking me up, I think she took it as a challenge.

Cravings: Well I didn’t think I was really craving anything until last night my dinner consisted of corn on the cob and salsa. Enough said…

Best moment last week: We had our 28 week appointment on Monday. It went well and the midwife is satisfied with my weight gain, baby girls heart rate and my measurement (28.5 weeks). I took the glucose test again without any trouble. I can’t believe I start my twice a month appointments already!Looking forward to: Parker is now in his new room with his toddler bed and couch. Right now we are using the dresser that was in there until the wooden lockers my FIL is fixing up are done. We are hoping to finish decorating in there this week/weekend. THEN it is baby girls turn. The nursery is a mess with stuff for Parker’s room and all the things for her.

I am also looking forward to the Classy Kids consignment sale on Saturday. This is the first sale I am shopping after finding out Munchkin is a girl. She already has so many clothes between hand me downs and what I have scored on buy/sell/trade sites. That doesn’t mean I can’t do a little extra shopping 🙂

27 Weeks ~ Hello 3rd Trimester

Munchkin is the size of a rutabaga!
Weight gain: She is starting to make up for such a slow 1st and 2nd trimester. My scale says about 13 pounds but it has been about 5 pounds off the last few times. I will have a better idea on Monday.

Sleep: Has been rough the past few nights. We decided to keep the air on after Parker’s party and it has been amazing during the day but for some reason I am getting very hot at night. Iv’e had to keep a fan on me all night, add another pillow to my collection and increase my sleep number to about 50. I am so grateful we splurged on that bed a few years ago. It is the only reason I think I am able to still sleep in bed!

Miss anything: Even though I am usually one to have a to-do list, I miss not having quite so many items on it. Luckily the yard sale and Parker’s party is over. Now it’s just the conference, moving Parker to his big boy room, getting baby girls room set up and doing an exclusive kids yard sale in August. Oh and then having a baby and readjusting to life with a newborn and family of 4!

Movement: I regret ever saying I wish I could feel her move! She has been really pushing, stretching and moving at night and really don’t like when I sleep on my left side. Yesterday I swear she was in a ball pushing her feet against my back and back against my belly. I thought I may rip in two. She also feels extremely low so I feel like I am walking around with a bowling ball in my stomach.

Cravings: On Monday we decided to go out to celebrate some possible good news with Robs job and I had my heart set on Cheeseburger In Paradise. Their frickles and avocado burger were just the thing I wanted. We got all the way their, and even taught Parker to say frickles please, only to find out they closed. WHAT?!?!??!??! Gaaaa, I have never been let down like that before.

Best moment last week: Celebrating Parker’s birthday with many of our friends and family. It was so nice to see all the kids one year old and playing even more together. The party seemed to be a big hit and everyone enjoyed the food.

Looking forward to: We have taken the futon out of the guest room and can now begin moving out all the baby stuff. We already have Parker’s toddler bed and got the mini couch for his room yesterday. Once everything is out we are going to start setting things up. We will officially move him in on July 21st after we get back from a trip to NJ. Then it’s time to start baby girls room! I am trying really hard not to think about that room until Parker’s is done.

26 Weeks – Good Bye Second Trimester

Munchkin is the size of a lettuce!

Weight gain: Lets go with about 10 pounds. Our scale is very off which is always nice when I have an appointment but not so much in between. Hard to believe baby girl is between 1.5-2 pounds already. She certainly feels long with the different places she is able to kick me at once.

Sleep: Still great considering I am almost in my third trimester already. I certainly I figured out the perfect configuration of pillows which consists of 3 body pillows, a memory foam pillow, feather pillow and contour pillow (for my belly). You can walk into our room for the first time and know exactly which side is mine 🙂 So glad hubby is willing to share!

Miss anything: I am missing some friends I haven’t seen in awhile. While I absolutly love motherhood, it makes it so much harder to stay close to people. Especially when they don’t have kids of their own.

Movement: She loves to move around when I am laying down which usually means she loves being rocked to sleep with movement. I don’t mind that at all since I have been so busy on my feet getting things ready and chasing after a toddler.

Cravings: I have been so busy this week I haven’t had much time to really crave anything. Since we were in NJ I had my favorite dessert at our local ice cream stand a few times.

Best moment last week: So many wonderful things are going on right now…

We celebrated big brothers birthday on Sunday which was 26 weeks exactly! His party is this weekend but we had a small pancake breakfast at my parents house to celebrate. We are spending this week getting ready for his nautical themed party and I am having so much fun!

The yard sale at my parents house was a HUGE success. We made about $350 which will cover the IKEA couch we want to get for Parker’s room, the paint and molding for baby girls room and a few other decorations. I will be sharing some tips on running a successful yard sale since it was such a huge success next week.

Looking forward to: Having everyone here for Parker’s party. The house is going to be full and even my Grandma is going to come. I love having a full house surrounded by friends and family.
