31 Days

I am always looking for new link ups to participate in to not only get my blog out there but also give me topics to write about. Through a fellow blogger, I discovered a new challenge called, 31 Days. This is completely up my alley and couldn’t have come at a better time. 

At almost 23 weeks PP, although loosing 30+ lbs, I am still 16 away from my pre pregnancy weight and about 62 lbs overweight. I keep trying to get motivated and focused but about 3 days into my week I lose it. Partly because being a Mom doesn’t allow for conventional meal times or the ability to get a good workout in. But it’s mostly because of me, no excuses. I only have a few pictures of me and my baby boy which makes my heart break. 
The purpose of this challenge is to find a topic to blog about for the 31 days of October. I have decided to focus on myself and the focus of my 31 days will be 31 days to a happier & healthier me – mentally, physically and emotionally. To help me stay focused, I am going to brainstorm topics and choose 31 of them to write on Popsicle sticks. Every morning I will choose one and focus on that for the day and write about it that night. 
Some of the topics I have started to think about are:
– Write a list of veggies that I do like and find recipes to incorporate them into my lunches, snacks and dinners
– Put on make up, do my hair and take a few snap shots of myself
– Get a massage and spend the time relaxing and “finding my inner Zen”
– Track my liquids for the day and reflect on how I feel (any changes?)
– Take an hour walk with Parker and tell him stories of his Daddy and me
– Research exercises I can do with Parker
– Find a Mommy and Me yoga class and try it out
– Go through my closet and pick some of my favorite outfits I use to wear and will again someday
– Design a week menu that includes ALL of WW healthy guidelines and stick to it
– Color my hair
– No TV for a day, instead listen to iTunes and make a playlist that makes me feel good
– Unplug for a day (no TV, phone, computer) and sit outside with P and read a book
– Spend the 4 Friday’s making a dessert that is healthy but a fun treat that curbs my chocolate craving
– Research different organic vitamins and start a new regiment
– Research cleaning checklists and develop a realistic one to follow 
– Dinner date night with the hubs
– Watch my wedding video, look at scrapbooks and pictures
Okay, more topics to come. For now, it’s time to get some beauty sleep while P is sleeping. My next step is creating my button for it and finishing my topics! 

WW Wednesday

Well only a few short weeks ago I wrote this post promising that this go around with Weight Watchers will be different. Of course, I find myself staring at my weight tracker realizing that I haven’t gotten to a meeting in over a month.

I thought wanting to lose weight would be enough of an incentive but am finding that it isn’t. I decided to resort back to a few of the things that helped me lose almost 50 lbs last time.

The first, is to have a set date in mind with a certain weight goal. I chose February 28th which I will explain why in a moment. I also chose 140 lbs as my goal weight. This means I need to lose 60 lbs in 6 months. That is a high ambition but between breast feeding, being home and the ability to challenge myself, I think I can make it happen. The key will be not to cut out tons of food, but eat tons of food that are healthy and low in WW points. I certainly don’t want my supply to tank!

The second, have an event or something important to look forward to. This is why I chose February 28th. I recently purchased a Living Social Deal for Glamour Shots. The voucher expires February 28th so I have exactly 6 months to get my butt in gear! I wanted to have some pictures taken before Rob and I are ready to grow our family even more.

The third, is to make a calendar countdown so I can see my progress and how much time I have left. I take poster board and after a little math, drawing tons of straight lines with a ruler and some old photos of me at my goal weight, I have visual inspiration every time I wake up in the morning.

I am hoping that I can finally get myself focused. I am finding that I don’t have a lot of pictures with P because I am so unhappy with the way I look. I will never forgive myself if I look back 10, 20 even 30 years from now and regret that over something I HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL OVER!

Toddle Along Tuesday ~ Favorite Recipe

I’ll be honest, cooking just isn’t my thing. I really wish it was because when I do take the time, I really enjoy it! Since I am now a Domestic Engineer employed by the Meyer Home, cooking is a top priority in my job description. This is where the most amazing invention has become crucial in my life, the Crock-Pot.

It is so easy to make amazing meals without a lot of time in the kitchen. I am always on the hunt for yummy recipes so I will share my favorite with all of the Toddle Along Tuesday followers.

Pulled Chicken Sandwiches
6 hours with only 10 minutes of prep
Serves 4

3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 medium onion (sliced thinly)

1. Cut the onion in half and slice into half rings. Line the bottom of the crock pot with the slices
2. Trim the chicken breasts and place on top the onions

Sauce
1 cup Honey BBQ sauce
2 tbsp cider vinegar
1 tbsp yellow mustard
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 pinch salt

3. Mix all sauce ingredients together and pour on top of the chicken and onions
4. Cook for 6 hours on low
5. When the chicken is nice and soft, tear apart into shreds using 2 forks (or a special gadget if you have one)

We love to serve the pulled chicken on sandwich thins with mac&cheese on the side!

For all those WW fans out there, a serving of this yummy goodness has 202 calories, 1.4 grams of fat, 26.4 grams of carbohydrates and 21.9 grams of protein adding up to only 5 points!

WW – Week Three

Well I gained this week, 2.2 to be exact. Although that isn’t a loss, I still celebrated. Normally, knowing that I gained, I would have skipped the meeting. Instead, I took a perfectly content infant out of their crib, got them dressed, fed and packed them up and made the 20 minute journey to my WW meeting. For this, I was extremely proud of myself and I think it has really motivated me for this week.

On a side note, P did such a good job at his first meeting!

WW – Week One

What a great weigh-in today. I am down 2.8 lbs!!! While that isn’t the greatest drop in weight I have ever had during my first week at WW, it is one that I will take. :o)

This weeks topic was Make Your Move. Our leader asked us what equipment we had sitting around the house and what it is currently being used for. I am a total As Seen On TV junkie, especially when it comes to exercise equipment. They just do such a darn good job getting me motivated! While sitting there listening to her, I counted about 8 exercise items I have purchased online. While I would love to give my pregnancy as an excuse for not using any of them recently, that would be a little bit of a lie.

Our phamplet gave us 9 ways to move more:

One ~ Do what you like
Once I get the go ahead from the doctor, I want to start taking P for a walk everyday. This will be a great opportunity to get him outside in the fresh air and get my exercise in! I also want to start doing Zumba during one of his naptimes. It won’t be the same as taking a class but I will be able to stick with it more at home.

Two ~ Pace yourself
I have to keep telling myself that I was pregnant for 9 months and I won’t get back to where I was (even though I wasn’t even happy there) overnight. I have set small goals for myself and will reach my ultimate goal someday in the future!

Three ~ Set goals
Since my life has changed a little whole lot, I have learned that I need to set small goals everyday and not get too upset if I can’t achieve them. My number one goal is to care for P. That not only means caring for his needs but mine as well. This includes eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, showering and exercising!

Four ~ Ditch the all or nothing attitude
I use to be an all or nothing person. If I didn’t have time for a full workout, I didn’t do anything… Now, I will utilize all the small opportunities to do something if I don’t (and even if I do) have time for the long walk or workout. 

Five ~ Don’t go it alone
I have P to keep me motivated!

Six ~ Bring in a pro
This doesn’t really fit into my life right now but I have a ton of friends who I can turn to for advice.

Seven ~ Make it easy to exercise
I have lots of opportunity to add 5-20 minutes of exercise throughout my day. It is never consistent but is always there and I just need to take those opportunities!

Eight ~ Do different things
I have a lot of variety if I play with those many exercise items I have purchased and are collecting dust around the house. 😉

Nine ~ Keep track
I love my eTools on my phone for this reason!
