Is plaid knit or woven?
Plaid fabric can be knitted, woven or printed on the fabric. The plaid can run either lengthwise or crosswise. Plaids fall into two categories, either even or uneven plaids and this depends of the color bars that make up the plaid design.
What kind of fabric is plaid?
The Scottish plaid was traditionally woven from wool or a wool/linen mix, and it’s this cloth or material that the word tartan first described. The culture was to weave in stripes of various colours using natural dyes. When done in both directions (on both the warp and weft) it produced a check.

The raw silk is woven or knit into a fabric or spun into a yarn.
What size needles do I need to knit a blanket?
The most common lengths used are 16”, 24”, 32”, and 40”. These needles work well for knitting blankets. However, unless you always knit the same blanket with the same yarn, you’ll need to buy a different needle for each blanket you make. This can get expensive and create storage issues for all the needles you buy.
