What is quilting weight cotton?
Quilting cotton is a medium weight fabric which is heavier than Poplin. Traditionally used for patchwork and quilting, it’s also called craft cotton, to differentiate it from dressmaking or apparel cotton used for garments. Be aware that some fabric shops call quilting cotton just “cotton” or “cotton prints”.

How can you tell if fabric is quilting cotton?
This is particularly true when it comes to quilting cotton, medium-weight cotton known for its firmness. The stiffness makes it easy to crease and hold a fold line. Even if you press with your fingers, it’s enough to mark the fabric. Although the fabric usually softens after washing, it will still be easily creased.
What is the thread count of quilters cotton?
Quilt cotton fabric thread count will vary between good quality at 60 to 75 threads per inch to high quality with 200 threads per inch in the length (warp) and width (weft). Batik fabric uses 200 to 220 thread count and a finer thread as required for the wax and dye process.
Is 180 GSM cotton good?

Is 170 GSM cotton good?
That will depend on what your needs are. Fabric weight is in almost all cases is a definition of the thickness of the garment itself. If you want a heavy t-shirt then a 180-200gsm item is generally at the very top end of a t-shirt weight, but if you want a nice lightweight summer t-shirt a 130-150 is also great.
What does 250gsm mean?
250gsm = 190 to 285mics. 300gsm = 237 to 342mics. 350gsm = 284 to 395mics.
Is 300 GSM fabric good?
