Can you cross stitch vertically?
Vertical cross stitch row worked as individual stitches (traditional method). Each cross stitch is completed before starting the next. It’s important that all cross stitches have the same diagonal line on top, otherwise the stitches will reflect the light differently, affecting the look of the finished work.
Do you cross stitch in rows or columns?
Generally speaking our own preferred way to stitch is to do all the half stitches of one row of one section first, before coming back and completing the row of cross stitches. The reason for that is if you miscount, it is easier to unpick half stitches that whole stitches!
Does it matter which way you cross stitch?
Important to remember: No matter in which direction you are traveling the top stitch of your cross must always lie in the same direction. This stitching direction is ideal when the row you are stitching is below those stitches already completed.
