Yes, it shrinks after being put in the washer and dryer. 100% cotton. Not sure what would happen if you didn’t put it in the dryer. We have only used it to make dishrags, so the shrinking is not an issue.

Conclusions: All these yarns will shrink a little when washed. CoolSpun Cotton, and Sugar’n Cream shrunk the least. All of these yarns got noticeably softer when they were washed and dried, and I think would be soft enough for a baby blanket or a garment.
How do you keep sugar and cream yarn from fading?
Soak cotton yarn in a one to one mixture of water and white vinegar for 30 minutes before washing it. The vinegar prevents the colors from fading in the wash. Additionally, vinegar acts as a natural fabric softener. Do not worry about the vinegar leaving a scent; a mild clothing detergent will remove any traces of it.
