Stranded embroidery cotton thread is the most preferred thread for doing embroidery work . You may be calling it by the name ‘Embroidery floss’. This is the most common thread used for most embroidery work including cross stitch. It has 6 strands of thread throughout the skein.

Is Sashiko thread colorfast?

It’s colorfast and comes in 40m, 100m, and 170m meter skeins. The 100m skeins are thicker than the 40m and 170m skeins. This is the thread we use most often in our monthly Sashiko Subscription Kits and when I teach classes.

No embroidery hoop is necessary. It’s recommended to use a traditional sashiko needle which is longer than a regular embroidery needle and works best for carrying multiple stitches.
